Recipe for homemade candy eyesIt is easy, fun, and cheap to make edible eyeballs for cakes that should be cute, funny, or creepy. They're perfect for Halloween cakes or cookies with creepy eyes. Take the family to the kitchen and easily make your own sugar eyes.
Beat egg whites and sugar well. You can use a hand mixer. It should be whipped for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes tough and forms peaks. If the consistency is too thick, you can add a little bit of water.
Divide the icing into two parts. 3/4 should remain white and the last 1/4 should be colored black with food coloring.
Then put both colors in two different piping bags, and cut a small hole at the end of the bag.
First, pipe white hemispheres on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Then pipe a small black dot on top of the white.
Now you can let your candy eyes dry for about a day on the tray, or dry them at 50 degrees Celcius with convectional heat in the oven for about 30-60 minutes depending on how big the eyes are.
Store the finished candy eyes in an airtight container.
